Welcome to the ESEG advanced principles course in ovarian cancer surgery!

Join us for a learning journey into gynecology with our ESEG advanced principles course! Over two enriching days, you'll delve into the latest advancements and techniques in the field, guided by esteemed experts and faculty members. Clinical users in operative gynecology and gynecological oncology will benefit from the event.

The first day begins with a warm welcome and an introduction to the technical basics of vessel sealing. Participants will explore surgical strategies for both early and advanced-stage ovarian cancer, including endoscopic staging with lymphadenectomy and the debate between upfront cytoreduction and interval debulking surgery. The program also covers advanced techniques, such as the Hudson procedure for pelvic clearance and strategies for managing diaphragmatic disease and liver involvement. Discussions on bowel surgery, complication management, and product introductions for the hands-on sessions will conclude the day, followed by a round-table discussion.

On the second day, participants will receive an introduction to anatomy before engaging in a hands-on wet-lab workshop. In small groups, they will practice with advanced bipolar vessel sealing systems, enhancing their technical skills in a realistic surgical setting. The course concludes with a summary discussion, certificate handover, and a final networking opportunity over lunch.

This course offers surgeons a unique opportunity to refine their expertise under the guidance of leading specialists while exchanging knowledge on the latest advancements in ovarian cancer surgery.

Aims of the course:

  • Provide hands-on training with animal models to enhance practical skills and procedural techniques.
